The Holger Czukay Future Prize 2024 of the City of Cologne goes to “Pogendroblem”!
Jury statement:
“Pogendroblem have their very own way of writing lyrics, in which a punky attitude that pointedly points out problems and grievances meets a distanced, reflective thoughtfulness. In the field of alternative rock music, which often still relies on raw masculinity, Pogendroblem play with clichés and break the unwritten laws of the scene with a gender-fluid performance.”

SWEET DISASTER
A movie by Laura Lehmus
Script: Ruth Toma
A Zeitgeist Filmproduktion in co-production with field recordings filmproduktion
SWEET DISASTER has now screened at 105 festivals worldwide, has won over 35 awards and will be released in cinemas
nationwide from August 11!
Frida is 40 - and suddenly pregnant. Just as unexpectedly, she is abandoned by the father of the child, Felix, even before she can tell him the good news. Felix is back with his ex, but Frida uses bright colors not only in her painting classes, but also to embellish unpleasant truths: She doesn't want to accept the break-up and tries to win him back by any means necessary, most of them quite absurd. She is supported by 15-year-old Yolanda, who provides the necessary spy equipment. Sweet disaster is inevitable!
With Friederike Kempter, Lena Urzendowsky, Florian Lukas and others.
Press reviews of SWEET DISASTER:
A late pregnancy and the abrupt end of a relationship are not a catastrophe on their own. But both together have the same effect on a woman as accelerant on charcoal.
‚Not since Toni Erdmann have cliches around German humour been so artfully disproven.‘ (Pauline Rieux, Raindance Film Festival)
‚…but it’s written and directed in such a way that makes this tragedy into more of an amusingly wistful melancholy, effectively blending genres and making something totally unique. …As far as romantic comedies go, Sweet Disaster is one of the most original and imaginative ones in recent memory.‘ (Jack Walter, Loud and Clear Reviews)
‚Frida is a really crazy fun character. Outstanding performance by Friederike Kempter. …See for yourself!‘ (Sabine Willkop, SWR Fernsehen)
‚Light-footed Drama narrates our imperfect life. The conflicts in generation gap, relationships and parenting are transcended to precise scenes full of empathy for the characters.‘ (Heiner Dahl, ARD)
‚It’s truly heart-warming and funny!‘ (Julia Lehmann, SR1)
‚…one of the best films of the year… Sweet Disaster by Laura Lehmus stars the quirky, funny, and loveable Friederike Kempter who leads a formidable cast in this hilarious, poetic and heartfelt comedy.‘ (Pendance Film Festival)
‚For a long time no one has told a story as quirly and peppy about unfaithful men and abandoned pregnant women. Laura Lehmus hits in her debut feature film an blithe keynote, overplaying elegantly
the hidden minorkey. She charms the audience with animations and surreal inspiration without slipping in to artificial gimmic. The real-life position of single moms remains constanty precent.‘ (Peter Gutting, programmkino.de)

“For their video, the Münster band once again worked with the directing team Oliver Schwabe and Christian Becker, who had previously shot the video for “Mutmaßungen über Hendrik”. This time, they illuminate the faces of the four band members individually as they begin to perform the piece in a darkened room, their eyes twitching. The camera is very close, the light glistening brightly, a reminiscence of the urban flickering of the Ruhr Valley of their youth, which is also recalled by the shimmering guitar intro.” (spex.de)
